Immigrant-serving agencies provide settlement services to help newcomers to Canada adjust to their new life. We provide culturally-sensitive programs in many languages, including: English, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, Pashto, Dari and Bengali. Our free, confidential services try to help newcomers with all their needs during the process of settling into their new community. We provide many different services to newcomers.

As of March 1st, PICS is filing your income tax return for free.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • For a single individual, annual income limit up to $ 25,000
  • For an adult with one child, annual income limit up to $ 30,000
  • For a couple , annual income limit up to $ 35,000
  • For every additional child, increase the income level by $ 2,000
  • Income from interest should not exceed $ 1,000


Types of settlement services available include:

  •  Interpretation and translation of documents
  •  English language classes
  •  Help with finding a job or training
  •  Short-term counseling
  •  Form-filling assistance
  •  Temporary or permanent housing
  •  Child care services and public education for your children
  •  Government services (Social Insurance Number, Driver's License, etc.)
  •  Legal services and legal aid
  •  Direction towards other helpful resources in the community

Our services are your first and best link to the community, and are an excellent starting point to find out more about the immigration process or ask for help understanding communications from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Newcomers may access our services by dropping in or making an appointment with one of our counselors. We have two convenient locations to serve you in Surrey and in Vancouver.

We are also pleased to bring you an additional service of having Service Canada representatives in our office. These representatives are happy to answer your questions or assist you with forms.
