Job Finding Club

 

Our Job Finding Club (JFC) for Immigrants is a free, two week program that is aimed at finding employment. The JFC consists of a group of ten to fifteen students, all of whom are seeking employment. Students have the support of one another, as well as a JFC facilitator and career advisors. This program is designed to teach students the most effective means of finding work in a field in which they want to be employed.

Clients need to get a referral from an Employment Resource Center before visiting our office.

Students will learn how to market themselves to employers through
  • Structured job search activities
  • Skills Assessment workshop
  • Labor Market Research - effectively sharpen job search skills
  • Resume development - create focused resumes that are customized to your career goal
  • Interview practice (mock interviews) - learn how to answer those difficult questions such as "Do you have Canadian Experience?", "What is your weakness?"
  • Networking - establish contacts and job leads to access the hidden job market
  • Workplace Culture and business communication
  • Group support - work together with others who share your concerns
  • Individual coaching - support throughout program and up to 6 months follow up
This program is funded by the Government of Canada and there is no fee to participate.
