BC Employment Program
The BC Employment Program (BCEP for Income Assistance clients) is a new program that helps employable Immigrant and ESL Income Assistance recipients to obtain and keep employment by providing Employment Supports and Training.
The BCEP program provides a range of services that include:
- An assessment of a person’s current employment readiness using the ERS scale
- Self-directed job searches and access to job banks and computers to help find employment
- More intensive supports such as short term certificate and work experience training that increase employability and;
- Help with costs for work related expenses, as needed.
Recently the BCEP Program has added a new component to it’s training; the BCEP ESL component that begins with an initial assessment of English language ability followed by placement into appropriate class groups. Two skilled instructors provide lessons both Oral and Written which take the student from Level 0 to Level 3 English that will help them improve their social, employment and general life skills.
