Trust for the Dhillon Family
We are extremely saddened by the death of Kamaljit Kaur, a woman murdered in the Netherlands. While the exact circumstances of her death are still being investigated, Kamaljit Kaur who was separated from her husband in June 2011 was found dead in her home in the Netherlands. As a Society we are opposed to violence against women therefore we denounce this violent act committed against Kamaljit Kaur’s. No person has the right to take a life regardless of any differences or problems they may face. Kamaljit leaves behind three orphaned children in Surrey who will now be raised by her mother Gurbax Kaur Grewal. As a Society, PICS will help the family and urge the community to donate generously to their trust account at Coast Capital 6700930 Dhillon Family. Some kind individual has already placed $50 in the account, which is the only help that has come from the community thus far. The family is in need of funds in order to bear the expense of Kamaljit’s funeral, therefore we urge you to give generously. PICS will be assisting the family settle the children into schools and will also work with responsible ministries to seek help in raising the children. During a special meeting on Sunday, February 12th PICS donated $500 to help with immediate needs of the Dhillon family. We are concerned that the children who are visitors in Canada have no legal status to attend school. We will be writing to our local politicians and also our federal representatives to look into matters involving these children and allowing them to integrate into the Canadian system fairly quickly.
Unfortunately Gurbax Kaur Grewal, Kamaljit’s mother, is also a widow and has had difficulty raising her children. We will wage a campaign as soon as all immediate things are taken care of. Kamaljit’s funeral will be at Riverside Funeral Hall on February 18th at 10 am.
We will ask all community members to cooperate and assist Mrs. Grewal.
