Canadian Multiculturalism Day Celebration

Vancouver, B.C., June 15, 2011 – The Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society, Vancouver Office, will be hosting an event to mark Canadian Multiculturalism Day, designated by the Government of Canada to be June 27 every year. Our festivities will take place on Wednesday June 29, 2011 from 3-5 pm at PICS’ Main Street office, unit #8155. This is the second time PICS Vancouver will be commemorating this special day.
It will be an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect; and to appreciate the contributions of the various ethnic groups and communities that make up the mosaic that is Canada. The occasion will feature distinguished speakers, including Malcolm Bromley, General Manager Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation; Tim Welsh, Program Director AMSSA; and Don Davies, MP-Vancouver Kingsway & Immigration Critic. There will be refreshments, entertainment and door prizes. Guests include community and business partners, other service providers, clients, our Funder and local public figures. Our hope is that attendees will share their experiences about immigrating to, working and/or living in this unique city of Vancouver, while making the most of the chance to connect with each other. Attendance is by invitation only. We gratefully acknowledge the support of our sponsors below.
PICS Vancouver was opened in April 1997, to fill a need in the South East Vancouver community for employment services targeted primarily towards the immigrant community. In these fourteen years the Vancouver office has successfully helped thousands find meaningful employment through Employment Assistance Services and Targeted Wage Subsidy (for Employment Insurance clients) programs; and smoothly integrate into Canadian society through Settlement and Information services.
