Annual Job Fair organized by the four immigrant services agencies, in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library, on September 21st at the Central Library downtown. We are excited to report that the event was again a tremendous success, with around 5000 job seekers in attendance, and 29 exhibitors.

The Vancouver Branch hosted a Career Day for Youth at its Main St offices in July 2010. The focus of this event was to provide tools for success to youth aspiring to either pursue post-secondary education or enter into the workforce. This fun occasion involved presentations and workshops on scholarships and bursaries, volunteering and career development, resume and cover letter building, and time management. Also, a Multiculturalism & Diversity Day for Youth was held in Aug 2010. This very enjoyable event involved community leaders and youth speaking on multiculturalism and diversity from a variety of perspectives.

The Vancouver Branch hosted a special luncheon on June 30, 2010, to raise awareness of their Wage Subsidy Program among potential employer partners. The event included a presentation on the program; opportunities for employers to connect with Wage Subsidy staff and each other; and a complimentary lunch.

This ceremony unveiled the recently erected plaques commemorating donations from people in the community. We have had donations ranging from $1,000 to $25,000; at least 7 donations made to our housing complex are for $25,000.
