7th Connections to Employment Job Fair
Annual Job Fair organized by the four immigrant services agencies, in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library, on September 21st at the Central Library downtown. We are excited to report that the event was again a tremendous success, with around 5000 job seekers in attendance, and 29 exhibitors.
Youth Events Summer 2010
The Vancouver Branch hosted a Career Day for Youth at its Main St offices in July 2010. The focus of this event was to provide tools for success to youth aspiring to either pursue post-secondary education or enter into the workforce. This fun occasion involved presentations and workshops on scholarships and bursaries, volunteering and career development, resume and cover letter building, and time management.
Also, a Multiculturalism & Diversity Day for Youth was held in Aug 2010. This very enjoyable event involved community leaders and youth speaking on multiculturalism and diversity from a variety of perspectives.
Wage Subsidy Business Luncheon 2010
The Vancouver Branch hosted a special luncheon on June 30, 2010, to raise awareness of their Wage Subsidy Program among potential employer partners. The event included a presentation on the program; opportunities for employers to connect with Wage Subsidy staff and each other; and a complimentary lunch.
6th Connections to Employment Job Fair 2010
This Job Fair was organized by the four immigrant services agencies, in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library, on September 23rd at the Central Library downtown. Both sponsors and the VPL are excited to report that the event was again a tremendous success, with around 2500 job seekers in attendance, and 25 exhibitors.
Plaque Unveiling
This ceremony unveiled the recently erected plaques commemorating donations from people in the community. We have had donations ranging from $1,000 to $25,000; at least 7 donations made to our housing complex are for $25,000.

Power of Multiculturalism Event 2009
This event was an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect. Attendees included a diverse group of community and business partners, service providers, clients, our Funders, PICS staff and Board of Directors.
