On behalf of the Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society, I am delighted to extend this formal invitation for your attendance at our 70's Bollywood Gala Fundraiser. PICS will be hosting their first ever Gala, which will support immigrant women and in particular, our second stage housing initiative.
The gala will be hosted by the Bollywood Banquet Hall located in the Payal Business Center, Surrey BC at Unit # 201 - 8166, 128th Street. Our theme is ‘70’s Bollywood’. The 70’s heralded a bold new era for Indian women who were well aware of their rights and sexuality, and flaunted it to the max. Westernized Bollywood actresses redefined the look of the ‘new woman’ and revolutionized women’s role in cinema as more than a mere glam doll.
We are hoping to give the women who will benefit from our second stage housing project a similar revival and redefinition. Immigrant women will no longer need to sit on the sidelines and subject themselves to abusive situations. PICS will assist them in getting back on their feet and help them achieve their educational and financial goals.
