Job Search Facilitator
Starting Date: September 27, 2010Term position for 6 months at PICS Surrey
Job Summary
Responsible for providing and delivering job search services to job-ready clients by preparing them to obtain and maintain employment by assisting them through job finding club, focused job search workshops, or other suitable interventions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent; Job Club Leadership and/or Employment Counselling Certification; at least two years of experience in the employment assistance field working with immigrants; or a suitable combination of education, training, experience and certification. Excellent computer skills are required; fluency in English is must, and fluency in Punjabi is preferred.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Facilitate Job Finding Clubs using Azrin Model
- Facilitate Focused Job Search Workshops to job-ready clients
- Meet with walk-in clients, explain the centralized case management & referral process, and refer clients to case managers at ERCs and MERC for needs assessment and referral to suitable interventions as needed
- Provide ongoing consultation and guidance to clients; follow up, review, and monitor their progress throughout the intervention and post-track period
- Update the information about client, intervention, follow up, and client progress for submission to case managers and Service Canada
- Participate in organizing the Annual PICS Job Fairs for clients
- Design, prepare, and update JFC material – manuals, forms, exercises and handouts
- Set-up the JFC classroom regularly – and confirm participation of clients by telephone and prepare client lists etc.
- Type resumes for Workshop clients if the clients are unable to type them
- Proofread and edit all client documents before handing them back to clients
- Type and edit documents for JFC clients if needed
- Provide photocopying and faxing assistance to clients
- Create and update promotional materials for the program – flyers, brochures etc.
- Set up, maintain, and update files and related documents for the job search workshop clients
- Provide Internet and email orientation to clients to enable them to access job leads and apply on-line
- Provide help to clients in the Computer Resource Centre when needed
- Design and prepare job search workshops using MS PowerPoint software
- Follow up with clients after the interventions to assist them in getting jobs
- Provide timely feedback about the progress of clients to the referring case managers
- Assist the program assistant in preparing participation and follow up reports
- Network with other professionals and service providers and keep current on LMI
- Work cooperatively as a team member within the JSS and the organization
- Attend staff meetings and development workshops as required and keep the staff informed of any seminars attended
- Participate in marketing and promotional activities for the programs, as needed
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time
