Project Worker – PROVE / Volunteer Placement / Translation and Interpretation Services / Admin Support (35 hrs/wk)

 

Job Summary: Responsible for providing administrative and operational support to Employment Programs; oversee the PROVE, Volunteer Placement, and Translation and Interpretation Projects.


Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences, Business or Office Administration; proven experience in volunteer placement, translation and interpretation, and in providing administration support preferably in a multicultural setting; or a suitable combination of education, training, experience and certification. Experience working with School Districts and local businesses preferred. Excellent skills in computer software, the Internet, and email are required. Comprehensive report writing skills are required. Fluency in English and Punjabi language is mandatory. Suitable vehicle is required.

Key duties and responsibilities:
 
Admin Support – Provide administrative and operational support to Employment Programs; assist clients in typing, editing, correcting and making changes to resumes and update these in the client files in the office; meet with walk-in clients and assist them with filling out the intake and registration forms; provide an orientation to clients about the resources in the career resource centre; contact employers by telephone, letter, fax, email and/or in person to get job leads; maintain and update a database of clients to facilitate reporting and job placement; maintain and update client tracking system to monitor the referral of clients to PICS.


PROVE – PICS Resources of Volunteer Engagement. The purpose of PROVE is to strengthen and expand the volunteer sector, enrich the developmental experiences and marketable skills of school students, and increase over-all benefits to the stakeholders (volunteers, non-profit organizations, school districts and businesses). Current focus of PROVE project is to assist school students by arranging work experience and/or volunteer placements for them.

Volunteer Placement – This is a volunteer resource based program that provides individuals that lack or require the experience to develop the necessary skills to enhance their employability in their field of interest. The placements are arranged at local businesses, other agencies, or within PICS.

Translation and Interpretation Services – Oversee the translation and interpretation services at PICS Head Office. Maintain and update a database of translators and interpreters; Coordinate and match the services of the translators and interpreters with work assignments; invoice and collect payments from clients.

The position requires ongoing outreach and liaison with local businesses, organizations,
and schools. Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
